My daughter, Madison who is now age 8, started participating in organized dance programs at the age of 3. She started out with ballet and tap. She has also been a part of our church's praise dance group and participated in gymnastics, cheerleading and soccer.
I've always known that there was something special within her. The more she developed she began to move in very unique ways. I did not know exactly what it was but only that I needed to encourage her to keep actively involved in areas that interested her.
At our cousin's wedding reception in 2008, we had the opportunity to witness a spirit filled dance performance by Ms. Terra Gallemore and a few of her dancers from Kali Dance Studio. Madison was mesmerized and told me that she wanted to be part of "that" dance program. I too was moved. However she was already taking dance somewhere else and I felt that needed to finish it out. But one thing was for certain, she never forgot.
At a summer camp fair during the end of the 2009-2010 school year, Kali Dance Studio was represented and we got a chance to meet Ms. Gallemore. Out of all the camps and other dance programs on site, Madison was determined that she was going to Kali. Madison and her cousin, Alexis, started the summer of 2010 and have not thought about going anywhere else since that time. Madison takes ballet and praise dances.
I have learned that dance can be a ministry used as a way to spread the spirit of God. I can truly say that Ms. Gallemore and the teachers at Kali are bringing out the gift of dance that God has bestowed upon Madison. I have been in awe and in a spirit of praise to God upon what I have seen develop within her in such a short time.
Overall we have had a great experience at Kali. As a concerned parent I feel the best thing to do is direct my questions and concerns to Ms. Gallemore. I feel that she has the best interest of her dancers at heart and strives the get them to be their best.
I also realize that Ms. Gallemore has "a lot on her plate". She has to run/oversee the dance school, teach classes, pick out and order dance uniforms and keep the teachers, dancers and parents on track while maintaining a full time job and having her own personal life to lead. I am truly thankful that she is acting on the vision God has given her to share her gifts and talents with our children, community and world. Therefore I keep Ms. Gallemore and Kali Dance Studio lifted up in prayer always. I expect great things to come. In expectation, I make myself available to help out in anyway I can. And I only know that the sky is the limit as to how high Madison, Ms. Gallemore and Kali Dance Studio can go.

The 1st thing that caught my eye from Kali Dance Studios was that Ms. Terra was very professional, but kind. She's also very serious and dedicated to her craft. Also it was out of the box that an African American woman taught ballet which was looked at as not part of our culture. Yasmine has been taking Beginning Ballet for the past 7 month and has already been promoted to the next level. Thanks to Kali I see something in Yasmine that just makes her glow, and that is DANCE. I recommend anyone who is serious about their child exceeding in excellence and professionalism to try Kali Dance Studios. You will not regret it!!

When I think of Kali Dance Studio of the Art, Excellence comes to mind; the owner, the staff, the studio and most importantly the spirit. Webster defines excellence as "the quality of being excellent; state of possessing good qualities in an eminent degree; exalted merit; superiority in virtue." My daughter, Destiny has been a student at Kali for 3 of the 5 years in business. I find the thorough teaching of proper technique evokes discipline and the staff is very professional. In the words of Destiny (7 years old), "Dance is my life and I can't think of not having it. The classes are challenging but fun. One of the best things about dance is performing and I love all the recital opportunities I get with Ms. Gallemore." As a parent, I love how dance can join the community together! Kali has truly brought inspiration to my daughter; she knows what she wants to do when she is older and that is to serve her community. And that is exactly what Kali and the owner, Ms. Gallemore encourages every student at Kali~ inspire others, lift their spirits up, and most importantly perform inward and outward with the spirit of Excellence.
